Wrapping Up eCourts 2024: Innovations and Insights Shaping the Future of Justice

The eCourts 2024 conference in Las Vegas has wrapped up, leaving us energized and inspired by the discussions, innovations, and collaborations that unfolded. Hosted by the National Center for State Courts (NCSC), this event brought together court leaders, administrators, and professionals from across the country and the world, all focused on advancing the intersection of justice and technology.

This year’s conference showcased immersive education sessions led by industry experts, delving into the latest trends and innovations in court technology. Among the standout topics were artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, and data management—areas shaping the future of justice systems worldwide.

Conference Highlights

Artificial Intelligence and Justice Systems

AI took center stage as experts provided court leaders with insights into its potential applications and the challenges it presents. From enhancing courtroom efficiency and automating administrative processes to improving accessibility of court proceedings and court records, AI is redefining what’s possible within the legal framework.

Cybersecurity Resilience

Cybersecurity was another critical focus, with discussions addressing the pressing need to safeguard court systems from cyber threats. Attendees explored lessons from recent cyberattacks, like the cybersecurity incident involving the Kansas court system, and learned practical strategies to strengthen the resilience of court infrastructures and improve security postures.

Data Management and Equity

NCSC also introduced innovative tools designed to address longstanding data challenges, improve efficiency, and promote equity in decision-making. These tools include the Duplicate Recognition Tool, the Racial Imputation Tool, and the Equity and Inclusion Assessment Tool (EIAT).

For The Record at eCourts 2024

Since unveiling our instant speech-to-text technology, FTR RealTime, at eCourts 2022, this year’s conference marked an exciting anniversary for our team. At eCourts 2024, we highlighted the system’s rapid evolution, showcasing new features and enhanced functionalities that continue to set FTR RealTime apart.

Additionally, this year was particularly exciting for our team as we introduced FTR RealTime Go Recorder—a portable recording and speech-to-text solution designed for legal professionals who need a reliable, agile tool to capture records of legal proceedings on the go.

We also expanded our presence this year with a larger exhibit, enabling us to connect with even more attendees. The additional space allowed us to host more live demonstrations, provide in-depth showcases of our solutions, and engage in meaningful conversations about the challenges and opportunities on the horizon for courts.

Attendees at our booth were especially intrigued by its compact size and the ability to be deployed in diverse recording environments, while offering secure, cloud-based storage and real-time transcription capabilities.

Addressing Real-World Challenges

During the event, many attendees shared challenges their courts face, such as:

  • Delayed transcripts
  • Courtroom backlogs
  • Resource constraints, including difficulties in locating court reporters
  • Providing assistive technology for accessibility purposes
  • Mobile court record capture

FTR RealTime Go Recorder resonated as a direct solution to these issues, providing an accessible and lower-cost alternative to full-scale courtroom modernization projects and traditional court record methods.

Celebrating Connections

At our booth, we were inspired by conversations with our current customers, who shared success stories and suggestions for future enhancements to our FTR Justice Cloud solutions as well as our on-premises hardware solutions. Their feedback reinforced the tangible difference our technology makes.

We also want to extend our gratitude to our customers, business partners, and colleagues who joined us at our reception held at the NoMad Bar after the conference wrapped. It was great to connect outside the Exhibit Hall, share experiences, and celebrate the successes and innovations shaping the future of court technology

Looking Ahead

As the conference highlighted, technology is key to addressing the justice system’s most pressing challenges. We’re honored to play a role in empowering courts and legal professionals to deliver justice more efficiently, effectively, and equitably.

A big thank you to the NCSC for hosting this event and to everyone who visited our booth, participated in demonstrations, and shared their perspectives. Your passion and insights drive our mission, and we’re excited to continue pushing the boundaries of innovation in this field.

Until next year, we’ll remain focused on developing tools that help courts and legal professionals navigate the complexities of today’s justice system with confidence.
